I love vintage fruit and vegetable labels so how about a summer crop theme. Linens with fruit, berry baskets, anything related to fruits or vegetables.

How about a flip flop swap? Or more of a summer holiday swap that could include anything summer fun from headbands and beach bags to home decor or hobby related (thinking perhaps we might have more time to get creative in the summer?).

Or how about a kitchen/foodie swap? Or cookbook and kitchen?

And my third idea is an everything ribbon swap. Incorporate ribbon every step of the way.

I can't wait to read all the fun ideas that everyone comes up with!!

I've been thinking about this since you first mentioned it, and I think that with it being summer time, a vintage drive-in swap would be super fun. Think hot vintage cars, singing hotdogs, popcorn, coca-cola, poodle skirts, big hair and Grease. Fun old movie's up through the 70's and even 80's watched under a sky full of stars....

I second what Cake girl said. The vintage produce labels sounds awesome.

Or how about a renaissance theme. Perhaps I am thinking about that since we are heading to the Renaissance festival on Saturday

It is summer, so a Garden Party swap would be fun! Fancy serving plates and treats, vases and centerpieces, cookbooks for summer cooking, would all be so much fun!

Second idea - I love the color combination of Red, White and Aqua (may be for an 4th of July type swap). I suggested this before, but it bears repeating.

Third idea - June is the month of Roses and Pearls. I don't know how we could do that, may be rose theme combined with pearly colors.....

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Think: romantic Shakespearian style, glittering fireflies with gossamer wings, floaty gowns, watercolors & wildflowers, floral garlands, green ferns, and vintage instruments and Poetry.

Oooh I love the Midsummer Night's Dream idea. I have no idea what I'd send but I love the play so much I wouldn't be able to resist!

How about a fairytale/nursery rhyme swap? We chose one and send items based on that theme.

Or a sense swap- we send five item, one for each sense. For example, a scrummy chocolate, a nice candle, a mix cd, something tactile and something pretty.

Or a Four Season swap- four items, one for each season! A nice wooly scarf, flip flops, something flowerey and something with beautiful goldens and reds.

I love all the summer ideas, so mine should perhaps be filed away until a different time of year...I would love to do an Asian themed swap - inspired by the Miso Pretty bath products http://www.blueq.com/shop/114-catId.117440552_114-productId.0.html

These are all so great! My ideas:
1. Lazy summer afternoon in the hammock - think cold beverage, nature all around, a summer read, sketchbook, music.
2. Playing in the kitchen. Toys from the heart of the home!
3. The House All To Myself. What would you do if you had an afternoon all to yourself? Movies, music, art, cooking something really high end, NO LAUNDRY ALLOWED!
4. Goodwill Hunting. Cool stuff from the second hand shop. Use your partner's profile to pull together a great assortment of treasures and whimsy.

I'd really love a garden swap, jewelry swap, or a hostess themed swap. How about a house-made theme- items for the home? Think cloth napkins, vintage platters, jewelry boxes, framed art...

Ooo wow, I love these ideas! I especially like the Vintage drive-in, Garden, and Shakespeare themed swap ideas!

How about a vintage 'Heart of the Country' type swap? All things countryside and nature - hessian, calico, or printed fabrics, wreaths, berries, recipes or cookbooks, little birds or animals, art or jewellery involving or based around some sort of nature? Acorns, hearts, conkers, pebbles, scented candles, leaves, etc.

Or a poem swap? You can choose any poem (or maybe write one!) and send items based around the poem. You also have to send the poem itself in some form.

Or a questionnaire-type swap? Everyone gets a list (the same list) of say five to ten questions - and each item that you send to a partner must be an answer to one of the questions.

Or a Jane Austen theme swap? Books, parasols, vintage lace, frills, white gloves, ball gowns, handkerchiefs, Posies, flowers, vintage fans, buttons, shoes, sewing...

Or what about some sort of time loop/play on time type swap? Somehow combining the future with the past? Items could be along the lines of watches, clocks, candles, anything space-themed, etc.

Or a swap based on the prohibition?! That could be cool.

Can't wait to hear more ideas!

Although it is summer now, the fall is coming and I love everything about the fall. The colors, smells, taking time to reflect on all we are thankful for.
This could tie into the whole fruit label aspect, think apples, pumpkins, etc.
Thanks for the opportunity to play along!

My ideas:

Sunflowers - I find sunflower fabric almost everywhere.

Tea - We could send our favorite tea, make something from fabric with a tea design (apron), sew something tea related from other fabric (cosy).

Sleepover - Some ideas: make our partner a cute & easy to sew pajama bottom, send package of popcorn, movie, beauty products, flashlight or book light to read by.

Buttons - All kinds of things to make, can also send some buttons.

Paper dolls - Make something from paper doll fabric, make our own paper dolls. This might be too difficult an idea - too hard to find fabric.
Hope you like some of these ideas,
Laurie

I participated in your Orange and Yellow Summer Swap way back when...I have been wanting to host or "do" a Vintage Kitchen swap. Think aprons, vintage kitchen utensils, granny's old cookbook, etc. Would be so much fun!!
